December 2009

Relaxing turn of the year in Scandinavia ... 2009 was a turbulent year and so we just wanted to relax. We fly into Stockholm and spent 10 days in a small town at the sea. We had the hope, that they would have sno. But the house owner told us, that they rarely have snow in December. It's more ugly weather around christmas. But we had luck. There was lots of snow and temperatures -11°C.

We arrived in Stockholm with snow. So we strolled around in the old town "Gamla Stan". The christmas-market ws already closed, but the small cafes invited for sitting down and having a cup of coffee. It was hard to find a restaurant in the evening. All the restaurants are closed over the holidays.

On the following day we arrived in Dalarö. It's a small town at the sea in the archipelagos. We wanted to have calm days. And we got them. The only bar and restaurant was closed till 2nd of January, only a shop was open. In summertime there must be high life, but not at this time of year. So we went to the little waffle-house at the harbour nearly every day. The pink house we rented was cute and had a chminey. The owner had blinds in some windows to keep the warm in ... We didn't care, because sunrise was at 9am and sunset at 3pm - just short days. So we discovered small Dalarö and the environment. Of course we also drove to Stockholm and visited Skansen and the Vasa-Museum. A boat tour is also a must. New Year's Eve was very decadent. We had champaign, shrimps, salmon and caviar. Welcome 2010!

At the end of the trip we spend 2 nights in Stockholm. That was the chance to shop and make sightseeing in "Gamla Stan" and Södermalm. 

Yes, it was a relaxing trip. 2010 can come
