Paris
December 2005

What else can I write about the french capital? I reported already on different sites about it. Thus there is no need for another story. But this time it was completely different than all the time before. Paris in the before-Christmas gloss was impressive, in addition, coldly. We had gotten once again a cheap flight with Easyjet. A warm "Thank you" to Kerstin and Hervé again for the accommodation. It was great staying with you!

In the evening Sandra and I started with some dinner in Rue de Lappe. This small pedestrian-zone at Place de la Bastille offers some culinary alternation and was a good prelude. In addition a good start for Paris is having a Pastis in a little french bar. Afterwards we opened a bottle of champaign at Kerstin's homes as a welcome drink!

On the upcoming day Paris we explored Paris by feet. Place of the Vosges, Marais district, Les Halles and certainly the Louvre. Sandra wanted to discover the hidden messages, written in the book "The Da Vinci Code" and so we looked for Leonardo da Vincis "Communion". Unfortunately this work of art is not presented in the Louvre ...  So we admired the Mona Lisa and the Venus of Milo.  In wonderful winter weather we walked by the Tuilleries, up the Champs Elysée to the Arc de Triomphe. In the evening, I got my birthday gift: a dinner in the Buddha-bar.  This In-bar bewitched by a special atmosphere. In the twilight  stood a huge Buddha-Statue. The meal was exclusive, in addition very much tasty. An attendance is recommendable. Even if our table-neighbours decided to drink only a juice and have some appetizers after a short look in the map ...

Sunday was a cloudy day. And still chilly. We started at Place Nation, at Kerstins home and went down to the Ile St. Louis. Further on to Ile de la Cité and St. Germain de Prés. We also made a wonderful walk through the Jardin Luxembourg. In the afternoon we arrived at the Eiffeltower, which was covered by clouds. Quite interesting. Originally we wanted to climb to the top. But the sight was not fair so we decided to enjoy the view of Trocadero. At sunset we stood in Montmarte at Sacre Coeur. Even if Sandra struck, we decided for Sushi in the evening. Together with Kerstin and Hervé. Around midnight we stood again on Trocadero and watched the illuminated Eiffeltower.

The day of departure was introducedby some shopping. At least we tried to get the last christmas-gifts. We succeeded in the malls La Fayette and Printemps. The window dressings are very funny and tell some cute stories. They show doll plays for little children. In the afternoon the fwe flew back home. And it was once again a marvellous trip to the city at the banks of river Seine.

I am sure that we'll come back in 2006. There is still some Lidschi-liqour in the bottle! Paris, it was again wonderful!
