Paris
August 2004
Actually I should I
write: "Simply read travelling-reports about Paris from the two previous
years." - But I don't write this... Again, I had a marvellous time in
Paris. Like each year I did a short trip to the Seine-metropole. This time
Easyjet had offered a flight for 0.00 € and I didn't waited a long time before
I booked.
The vacation to the French capital started on a Sunday afternoon. Like
always, Kerstin and Hervé picked me up at the Opéra and we hurried home. The
new appartment at the the "Avenue de Throne" offers now a guestroom
and is located better than the old appartment. Then we took the metro to Bercy
with our inliner. We met Hervé's sister and run Inliner at the banks of the
river Seine. Many people with inliner were there and I trued some new "figures".
Mariange asked me at one tine, how long I already have this inliner. It looked
obviously not like three years - Anyway, I feel good. We crisscrossed the city
and went reached the appartment again in the evening. Followed by a nice meal
(Kerstin, I absolutely need the prescription for the bread with thus cheese!)
and a few digestifs for a well and deep sleep.
On Monday I started my trip through Paris on my own. I hiked from Kerstin's home
to the Opéra, through the Marais quarter in three hours. Nice lanes and cafés,
which invited for a short stop. I had fun, simply sitting down for a coffee and
watch people or even better watch people in-parking their cars. Especially in
Paris "big fun". At noon I met Kerstin and we had a good meal at the
sushi-bar. Afterwards I took the metro to Saint-Germains-de-Prés, which I
hadn't visit so far. It is like a trip to old Paris, many small lanes and nice
bookshops. Surely I also went to the tourist-attractions like Notre Dame. We
spent the evening in a small restaurant, around the corner. Being back again, we
catched the old times with pictures. The good old times with many memories. The
last Paris traip could not be missing thereby...
Tuesday was already the last day. And I took the metro to the Opéra. I started
with the Hard Rock Cafe and then stopped at Starbuck's for a coffee (Caramel
Macchiato). The Americans would laugh about the size of teh coffee. They named
it "petit", and it is really small. But believe me, when you see the
prices, you wouldn't laugh anymore. Then I went to the Place Vendome. I thought
about doing some shopping at the noble fashion shops - No idea, why I didn't ;-)
At lunch time I met Kerstin and iwe had this tasty bread with cheese (see above)
and salad. Further I walked up the Champs Elysée. This street changes every
year, new shops but everytime overcrowded. Of my extensive museum program only
the Catacomby remained - nothing else. Anyway, those are impressiv. Beneath the
Metro tunnels the Catacombs was built between 1780-1820, around to relieve the
cemetories. Lots of skeletons and skulls lie there... At the end of my trip I
visited the Eifel tower - that may not be missing. Then I had a last beer with
Kerstin, before I took the bus to the airport.
Paris was once again a wonderful destination. An incredible city, which I love
to visit. And by the years, I know where to go...
